ConnectedNC exists because small and mid-sized businesses deserve better than reactive, break-fix IT support — and better than the impersonal scale of a large MSP. They deserve a boutique technology firm with genuine enterprise experience, a long-term perspective, and a real stake in their success.
That's the firm Clinton Miller founded ConnectedNC to be.
Long before Clinton founded ConnectedNC, he was watching small businesses struggle — not because they lacked ambition or talent, but because they didn't have access to the kind of technology leadership that larger organizations take for granted.
ConnectedNC has been part of the North Carolina technology community since 2001 — when Clinton began working with small organizations that needed practical, reliable IT support and couldn't find it.
The first client was the NC Contemporary Art Museum, through a connection rooted in NC State's College of Design. What started as a focused engagement with a single arts organization quickly grew through referral — many of the architecture and design students Clinton worked alongside at NC State went on to start their own firms, and ConnectedNC became the technology partner those practices trusted as they grew.
For more than two decades, ConnectedNC served a focused base of small businesses and professional services firms — while Clinton simultaneously built deep enterprise expertise across higher education, healthcare, and management consulting. Those two tracks informed each other: the enterprise work sharpened the operational and security standards; the small business work kept the focus grounded in what organizations actually need day to day.
Today, ConnectedNC is a growing firm — with a team of specialists in managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and web development, all operating under the same standards Clinton built over 25 years of enterprise leadership. The relationships and experience are still at the center. Now there's a full team behind them.
Clinton was selected as a founding member of Microsoft's Global SMB Customer Advisory Board — one of a small number of practitioners worldwide chosen to advise Microsoft directly on SMB technology priorities. It's a credential that reflects the firm's standing in the broader technology community and informs how we think about every client engagement.
Each chapter brought a different kind of operational challenge — and a different set of lessons that now inform every ConnectedNC engagement.
Early career grounding in high-stakes, client-sensitive environments where data security, confidentiality, and operational reliability are non-negotiable. The foundation for everything that followed.
Almost two decades leading technology across complex, distributed higher education environments — managing large teams, significant budgets, enterprise infrastructure, and the full spectrum of IT service delivery. The longest and most formative chapter.
Technology leadership where uptime, security, and compliance directly affect patient outcomes. Experience spanning infrastructure modernization, remote operations, and clinical continuity across distributed organizations.
Advising organizations through technology transformation, compliance initiatives, cloud modernization, and operational improvement — the direct precursor to founding ConnectedNC full-time.
Bringing all of it to the organizations that have always deserved it — small and mid-sized businesses across North Carolina and beyond.
The best IT partnerships aren't transactional. They're built on trust, consistency, and a genuine understanding of how a business operates. That's the standard our entire team works to.
We're not a help desk. We're a long-term technology partner — which means understanding your business deeply, not just your infrastructure.
No jargon, no hidden scope, no upselling for its own sake. You'll always know what we're doing, why, and what it costs.
Enterprise experience doesn't mean enterprise complexity. We apply what works — and skip what doesn't — for organizations your size.
We measure success by how your business performs over time — not by how many tickets we closed or how many tools we sold you.
Clinton moved to North Carolina in 2001 and has called it home ever since. Both of his children were raised here. ConnectedNC is a North Carolina firm based in Chapel Hill, serving organizations across the Triangle — Durham, Raleigh, Cary, and beyond — with genuine roots in this community and a real stake in seeing local businesses succeed.
